Continuing Education at ASRO

Since 1974, physicians attending ASTRO's Annual Meeting have received category 1 credit, originally with the support and assistance of the American College of Radiology. ASTRO received its initial full accreditation status in 2001 and has greatly expanded its continuing education programs since. Traditionally, the mainstay of disseminating our educational content was through the Annual Meeting Scientific Program. The Spring Refresher Course was introduced in 1993 to meet the needs of members who were unable to attend the annual fall meeting. Between 1997 and 2001 ASTRO continued to introduce additional small programs and added a hands-on practicum for IMRT to its overall continuing education program.

Since 2002, ASTRO has seen tremendous growth in its educational outreach. Our program includes regional and national directly sponsored activities, co-sponsorship of multidisciplinary programs, online education, Red Journal CME, webcasts, podcasts, self assessment modules and patient education materials.
