Lifelong Learning at ASRO ASRO is committed to providing the highest quality self assessment activities that promote lifelong learning. At ASRO, the principles of lifelong learning are taken into account in every educational opportunity we provide. To meet the American Board of Radiology's recertification requirements, diplomates must complete 200 Category 1 CME credits over the 10-year cycle, 80 percent related to radiation therapy or oncology. SAM (Self Assessment Module) Self assessment is one of the four components to Maintenance of Certification. This component addresses the need to be lifelong learners in your specialty. Addressing this universal need, ASTRO aims to assist both members and nonmembers with meeting the growing demands for lifelong learning by providing a library of rich and diverse online programs geared to satisfy the MOC’s self assessment requirements. The requirements for recertification can be satisfied through the many online programs provided by ASTRO. To meet your requirement please download a copy of the MOC Cycle Requirements and visit ASRO's library of online programs. The diplomate will be responsible for documenting successful completion of eight or more Self Assessment Modules during the 10-year period. These SAMs come from a variety of educational venues such as refresher courses, scientific meetings and workshops. The goal of the ASTRO self assessment program is to enhance your knowledge and applicable skill in the everyday practice of diplomates.
