Announcement of Trial of New Computer Learning Lab Software

The ASTRO School of Radiation Oncology would like to extend an invitation to ASTRO members attending the 50th Annual Meeting in Boston to participate in one of the two trials of new software being developed for use in the 2009 eASTRO Computer Learning Lab.

In order to continually improve the quality and efficacy of this offering, ASRO is considering new features in the software used in the computer learning labs.

Two trial sessions are being offered:

  • Residents and early-career radiation oncologists are invited to participate in first session on Sunday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m.

  • Mid- and late-career radiation oncologists are invited to participate in the second session on Wednesday, September 24 at 12:00 p.m.

Attendees will test-drive the software using a set of cases provided for the sessions. At the end of the sessions, attendees will complete a survey questionnaire. All responses and data acquired during the sessions will remain anonymous. ASRO will use the responses to guide the on-going development of the software leading up to the 2009 ASTRO Annual Meeting.

To sign up, e-mail the ASTRO Education Department and specifiy which session you would like to attend.

eContouring

Online learning is an essential part of professional development in almost every professional arena. Radiation oncology is no exception to this need to develop more efficient ways to train and develop diplomates in their area of expertise. Using a specialized software tool, ASTRO will provide an opportunity for diplomates, who attend the eASTRO Computer Learning Lab at the Annual Meeting, to work with contours to increase their knowledge and efficiency in contouring.
